Happy New Release day. Below are some of the flicks being released to DVD today. Would I rent the flick, buy the flick or wait until it hits TV to give up my time for it.

Max Payne

Directed by John Moore. John also directed The Omen remake, which is the only movie to ever make me get up and walk out of the theater. This time he takes on a video game adaptation and has put things in the trailer that just are not in the game.

Rent it, Buy it or wait for TV?: If I walked of the theater during the guys last film I am pretty sure I am going to wait for this to hit TV before giving up my time. I am sure as hell not giving up my money.

National Lampoon’s Stoned Age

This smells of Caveman with Ringo Starr only worse.

Rent it, Buy it or wait for TV?: I am in no way advocating the use of illegal drugs but it is going to take a few bong rips to even consider watching this one.

Stripper Academy

The name says it all.

Rent it, Buy it or wait for TV?: This is one of those flicks that junior high and high school boys will stay up late to watch just so they can see boobs.

Charlie and Me

Watch a 12 year old girl deal with a dying grandfather played by Mr. C. That’s eight Tom Bosley of Happy Days fame stars as the grandfather for what is sure to be a touching story.

Rent it, Buy it or Wait for TV?: I wll probably never see this movie. I just don’t need to be that depressed.

Poison Ivy 4

First it was Drew Barrymore and then Alyssa Milano, followed by Jamie Pressly and now it is Janet Bailey that will steam up the screen for young boys everywhere.

Rent it, Buy it or wait for TV?: What do you think?

The Express

Ernie Davis is one of the great football stories from long ago. It follows the life of an all time great collegiate running back who won the Heisman Trophy during a time when a black man was lucky to even play football.

Rent it, Buy it or wait for TV?: Football is my other obsession, so I am a sucker for a football flick. I wll probably rent this one and not be disappointed.

Save Me

Watch narrow minded people try to stop a gay man from being gay.

Rent it, Buy it or wait for TV?: I would rather watch But I am a Cheerleader again for the comedic version of this story.

Igor

John Cusack heads up the cast of voices for this family film. My kids are already clamoring to see this one. Igor is the true brains behind the mad scientist and when the scientist dies he gets a chance to prove it.

Rent it, Buy it or wait for TV?: This is one for family movie night that I will be renting probably sooner rather than later. After all it is Cusack.

Boogeyman 3

The Boogeyman terrorizes another young girl. Oh how exciting.

Rent it, Buy it or wait for TV?: SPOOOOOOON!

Repo! The Genetic Opera

I think we have a B-Movie winner here. In the future we are all having problems with organ failure. A company has set up an easy payment organ replacement plan. However if you miss a payment they will come repossess your organs.

Rent It, Buy it or wait for TV?: I live for shitty movies like this. I will probably be laughing my ass off while pulling my own private MST3K party. Oh yeah, I am renting this one, but I suggest that only true fans of B-Movies even attempt to sit through this one. If you don’t like B-Movies, run for this movie.

Saw 5

I saw Saw’s 1-3 and quit watching.

Rent it, Buy it or wait for TV?:If you have seen one Saw you’ve seen them all.

Vacancy 2: The First Cut

I watched the first one and was not really impressed. This straight to DVD cheap sequel will probably leave you depressed.

Rent it, Buy it or wait for TV?: Burn it break it and throw it away.

City of Ember

200 years of living underground letting technology take care of them has made the adults stupid and now it is time for 2 kids to try and find a way to save this subterranean city. This one is aimed at the kids and may have some entertaining moments, but…

Rent it, Buy it or wait for TV?: When it hits free on demand and I can nothing else to watch, I may give this one a try. Until then I am avoiding this flick.
