Soundtracks I love
Rants and Ramblings July 11th, 2008Forget the intro let’s just jump right in.
Mortal Kombat
Listening to it right now which is what inspired this post. As a matter of fact My son just walked out asking us to turn it down and he is 3.
“MORTAL KOMBAT!”
There are some great tracks on there and I can sit and listen to it anytime I need a kick in the ass to get my day going. When I used to work in an office processing medical insurance claims I would put my head phones and let this one rip at full blast. A real production booster for any one that any kind of job that allows you to plug in and go to it.
Across the Universe
I loved the flick and the music is why.
Highlander
AKA Queen “It’s a kind of Magic”
There is not a bad track on this from beginning to end. In fact the first track was also used in Iron Eagle. I love Queen and this album is a must own for any movie whore or Queen fan.
Devils Rejects
Rob did an incredible job of picking the right songs for this flick. Every one of them is great track by itself and when you throw it together with the audio clips from the flick this soundtrack is one I love owning.
Star Wars Episode 1
The best thing about this flick was the sound track. John L Williams shows us once again why he is great. Duel of fates is one I am trying to get as a ring tone for my phone.
Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure
Shut up. I love this soundtrack almost as much as I love this movie. I am also going to throw in the soundtrack from Bogus journey because I am The Movie Whore and I can do these things.
Batman (Burton version)
Prince had a lot of fun with this one and it shows. One of the first soundtracks I owned.
“Ever dance with the devil by the pale moonlight?”
This is Spinal Tap
Tap kicks ass. I always found it funny that when this flick came out people started looking for Spinal Tap albums not realizing it was not a real band. There are some fun songs here and if you are any kind of hair band fan then you own the Tap.
A Mighty Wind
Proof that folk music can be fun. This is a great flick and I have been known to sit down an add this soundtrack to a play list and hit shuffle. When one of these songs comes up it is a reminder I don’t have to be head banging all the time.
Rocky Horror Picture Show
I know I refer to this flick quite a bit but I just can’t help myself. No self respecting movie whore could. I know, oxymoron but this is my show.
I never get tired of this flick and I can plug in the soundtrack any time for some goofy fun. You can’t stop yourself from singing along from beginning to end.
Grease
You had to know it was going to show. I don’t care what anyone says I love this one. Another one that gets you bopping your head while you sing along.
Xanadu
I can sum it up in 3 letters. E.L.O. One of my favorite bands and they wrote the music for this this movie and it is the only reason why I own it. The song where they blend big band with early 80’s hard rock is brilliant and it is that brilliant moment that keeps me watching the one of the worst movies ever made repeatedly.

Top Gun. Freakin awesome soundtrack. I could listen to it over and over again. Much the same comment comes about watching the film. But then, I grew up as an F14 nut, so that film was like porn to me.

Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure! And I have to say The Last of the Mohicans with Daniel Day Lewis, from the opening scene the music is so powerful, and you can’t forget about Conan the Barbarian. Again it was the music that set the scenes.

If we are going with the epic style soundtracks, I am a big fan of the tunes from Braveheart.

Sy, It’s all about Kenny Loggins. I still love that one. Bogus Journey had a killer soundtrack as well.
Jess, Conan had some incredibly gorgeous and powerful music. Made the flick.
Greg, One of my favorite movies. great music.
Chops, good call man.
One I forgot to add to this list for some mysterious reason is the DUNE. Toto did an amazing job with the music for this movie.
