The Movie Whore on Star Trek part 2
Rants and Ramblings, The Whore's Lists June 10th, 2008So first we hit TOS and now it’s time for The Next Generation flicks. forget the intro and let’s dive into the flicks.
Generations: Pissed me the fuck off. They killed my hero not once but twice in the same movie. I grew up watching Jim Kirk blaze through the galaxy kicking ass and taking names. They gave Kirk a decent send off and made him the man of action he had always been. I loved the speech he gave Picard about never getting out of the captains chair because it was only there that you could be out in the galaxy making a difference. It was correct for them to pass the torch I just did not like it because it meant the death of my hero.
First Contact: Great flick. This is what we watch Scifi for. Kick ass take names and blow away the bad the guys. While I will always think as Picard as a second rate captain I can’t deny the abilities of Patrick Stewart. The man is a talented actor and he made this flick.
Insurrection: There are some people that did not paticularly care for this flick but I am not one of them. I quite enjoyed it. Data asking Worf if his breasts felt firm again. I was crying I was laughing so hard. The Star Trek films have always been great at adding these quirky little funny scenes that make the movie better.
Nemesis: Love the premise and I loved the execution. They did a great job at finding a young Picard and then he did a great job of aping Patrick Stewart. There end was a little corny but over all I think they did one hell of a job to give this crew of the Enterprise a fitting send off into movie history.
So there is the rest of my take on Star Trek and tomorrow we will look at Star Wars since I kind of have to. You can’t go over one with out going over the other. The one thing I won’t do is compare the 2 franchises. They are 2 separate mythologies that stand on their own and in my book it is perfectly OK to be a fan of both. What are some of your favorite moments from Star Trek?

Sadly, I have never seen any of the Star Treks with the new crew. Which really makes no sense considering I was a pretty big fan of the Next Generation show on television.
