Iron Man lives again
Reviews May 5th, 2008Saturday afternoon I went to see Iron Man. Now when I first heard that Jon Favreau was the man making the movie my first thought was “The guy from Swingers, WTF?”
Let me say this, the man knows how to make a movie. I have always been a big Iron Man fan and they nailed it. Robert Downey Jr was perfect as Tony Stark. I have always been a big fan of Downey and he did not disappoint. The movie looked amazing. Never did I find my spef actually thinking “Look at those special effects.” Instead I was thinking “Damn this is good.”
I can’t say much without giving spoilers but I will say this, stay until the credits are over. There is also a great set up for more than one sequel and it was set up brilliantly.
When you go into it you have to realize this is an origin story and it is a very story driven movie. Everything in this film has purpose and they don’t waste your time with pointless scenes. Everything was direct and was key to the story. The way Downey portrayed Stark was true to the character that Stan Lee created. We get to see the trial and error phase of creating Iron Man and it’s some funny stuff. When the action does kick in it is well worth the wait. By the ned of the movie you really are left wanting more. You want to see where they are going to take Iron Man in the future. I definitely want to see Favreau and Downey keep this thing going. In closing Iron Man is definitely worth the price of admission to see it on the big screen, so go see it.

I saw Iron Man on Monday night and it was definitely awesome! The story line was good and Downy was, as you said, great as Stark. My only complaint would be that the final fight could have been better. And yes I stayed through the credits, well worth it.

I just saw it again yesterday. It held up for me.
I understand about the final fight. I am looking forward to the next one having a bit more action. This is usually the standard complaint with origin stories. Really if this is the only complaint people have then you know it was good.

No diggity doubt. I am looking forward to the next one a lot, but do you think it will be more like a sequel to Iron Man(cuz that would be awesome) or another origin movie for the larger picture?

There has been talk of bringing in The Mandarin which is the #1 recurring villain in the Iron Man universe.

If you thought that was being funny, you need to get out and never come back inside.

Greg - Get over it dude.
TMW - I look forward to seeing the sequel to Iron Man. I never was a huge fan of the comic books, I just used to watch the cartoon a lot. In regards to SHIELD and the scene after the credits, when do you think they will create the Marvel Universe?? They got a lot of the pieces together to make a movie with all of the Marvel characters in it, they just need Captain America.

There has always been talk of doing the Avenger series. If they ever do it I will be shocked. The Ultimate Avengers is the Marvel version of the Justice League and the project just got shut down again.

You know I just found out that Captain America’s sheild is in the movie. In the scene with Stark trying to get out of his Mark III suit for the first time, when Pepper walks in. You can see it on the table behind him.

I did not noticed it. I ma going to have to look for it when I see it again. I will see it again.
